Project 52: Rule of Thirds | Week 2
It's Week 2 of this year's professional pet photography blog circle Project 52 and we are working the "rule of thirds" this week. The rule of thirds is one of the first rules of composition that a photographer learns. Cameras from basic point-and-shoots to your iPhone to high end dSLRs all have a grid that overlays your images to help you frame your subjects following the rule of thirds. When I use the rule of thirds for my images I try to line up the face of the pet along the grid lines. As you will see from the following images, I have included a second image with a grid overlay to show where the subject is aligned following the rule of thirds.
First up, is Victoria. This beautiful senior lady ended up in rescue after her family moved into a new house and didn't want her in their new home. Raisin is a very big boy at only nine months old. He was rescued, along with his brother, by a good Samaritan who took the two in until there was room for them at the rescue. Raisin's brother has been adopted and now Raisin is looking for a new playmate.
Fuzzbart is a fluffy guy who took shelter from the cold in a warm shed in Amelia. This guy is declawed, so it's likely he was someone's pet that was dumped.
Dunkin is a senior girl at 10 years old. She was a beloved pet, but her owner passed away leaving poor Dunkin a little scared and lost. I photographed Dunkin a few months ago and she has since come out of her shell, but would still like a quiet place to land.
To see more rule of thirds images, head over to Tim Evans Photography, photographing people and pets in Hattiesburg and south Mississippi then head around the rest of the blog circle until you end up back here. Make sure you block out a good amount of time for all the blogs this week as we, once again, have 24 participants!
If you would like to book a custom pet portrait session in your home or other favorite destination, use the hot pink "BOOK NOW" button to the right of this post (at the bottom of your screen on mobile), send us an email to suzi [at] petlovephotography.com, or give us a call at 513-288-1650 in the Greater Cincinnati area or at 650-382-3242 in the San Francisco Bay Area.
