Project 52: Framed | Week 18

May 05, 2017  •  6 Comments

It's Week 18 of professional pet photography blog circle Project 52 and our theme for the week is "framed." We could use whatever interpretation of framed we wanted to from framing our subject in our image or to a framed image or beyond. Time (I had a busy week prepping my booth for this past Sunday's Oakley Pup Crawl for the National Canine Cancer Foundation) and the weather (I thought Cincinnati was going going to float away) didn't cooperate with me for doing anything outdoors this week, so I moved into my studio and got creative.

I took an empty picture frame and used it to, literally, frame my subject. Looking at this, you would think it was a photograph of a framed photograph of Paco, but it is not...it's a false reality. It's really Paco standing behind an open frame. I added the paint peeling wall around the frame in post production.

I took quite a few images of Mr. Bojangles and Paco (well tempted in their posing duties with treats) and didn't even realize I had this adorably silly expression from Mr. Bojangles until I was reviewing my images on my computer. It was too funny not to use this week.

This was a fun project to do and I may turn these fake framed pieces into a reality by printing the images held within the frame and then framing them. Now how's that for a twist? Let us know what you think in the comments.

Next, head over to Ono Pet Photography in Fairhope, Alabama, to see the next frame up, and then around the rest of this week's blog circle until you end up back here.

If you would like to book a custom pet portrait session in your home or other favorite location...or even a fantasy photo shoot, use the hot pink "BOOK NOW" button to the right of this post (at the bottom or your screen on mobile), send us an email to suzi [at] petlovephotography.com, or give us a call at 513-288-1650 in the Greater Cincinnati area or at 650-382-3242 in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Love what you have done by adding the wall, very creative! I actually laughed out loud when I saw Mr. Bojangles. So cute!

Thanks, Kim. It's not terribly hard to do...you just have to have some textures.

Thanks, Lisa. Guess I will have to watch Modern Family to see. :)
