Happy Gotcha Day, Mr. Bojangles | Cincinnati Dog Photographer
Six years ago today I adopted Mr. Bojangles from Recycled Doggies in Cincinnati. The BF and I went to donate pet food to the Cincinnati Pet Food Pantry's "Stuff the Bus" campaign. They were also holding an adoption event, their first one since one of the co-founders had suffered a devastating fire at her home, losing both rescue and personal pets. There were a lot of people in a small space with lots of dogs available for adoption, as well as one of the fire survivors who, very sadly, eventually succumbed to his injuries. My parents were also there looking to adopt a dog (I was just there to donate pet food). They wanted us to check out the dog they found (and adopted that day.) Walking through the room, I saw a little scruffy dog in a crate that I just had to meet. His name was Rags. He was so sweet and cute. It was love at first sight!
Mr. Bojangles, or Rags as he was called, in his crate at the adoption event. He was rescued from a high kill shelter in Columbia, Kentucky. He was either picked up as a stray or an owner surrender, the paperwork was conflicting on details. Regardless, he was rescued and ready to find a new and better life.
The newly named Mr. Bojangles in his new home on March 5, 2011. It was also on the day of Mr. Bojangles' adoption, that the seeds of Pet Love Photography were sown, when I met a professional pet photographer documenting the event and the adoptions that day.
Through the years, Mr. Bojangles has been the best dog anyone could ever ask for. Besides being the official spokesdog model for Pet Love Photography, he has become a little internet celebrity in his own right with his Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter accounts, as well as his own website (which is currently being revamped to be better than ever.)

Also, Happy Gotcha Day to Barkley, my parents' corgi mix (picture from December 2016). So, THANK YOU to Recycled Doggies and, especially, to his foster mom, Debbie, for taking him in and giving him a second chance.
